Linefork

Jeff Silva (Co-Director/Cinematographer/Editor) is an artist, teacher, and curator based in Boston. He studied Cinema and Photography at Ithaca College and received a Master in Visual Art from Vermont College of Fine Arts in Montpelier. His films and installations have been exhibited at festivals, galleries and in museums internationally, including: MoMA's Documentary Fortnight, The Viennale, Visions du Reel, Valdivia International Film Festival, Flahertiana, and DocAviv. Jeff was a teaching fellow at Harvard University from 2006-2009, where he taught and helped develop the curriculum, along with Lucien Taylor, for The Sensory Ethnography Lab, a practice-­based program of visual anthropology exploring the interstices of art, anthropology and documentary film.

Vic Rawlings (Co-Director/Cinematographer/Editor) is a musician, instrument builder, sound installation artist, filmmaker, and freelance teacher based in western Massachusetts. He bought his first motion picture camera in 2012 to begin work on Linefork. Rawlings is also active as an electroacoustic musician, most often using an amplified/prepared cello and an electronic instrument of his own design and build. Visiting artist/teaching residencies have included Oberlin Conservatory, MIT, Harvard, UC Berkeley, UC Davis, Princeton, Dartmouth, and Wesleyan. His teaching interests include listening actions, collective sound-based improvisation, and electroacoustic instrument building, as well as more conventional forms of music (electric and acoustic guitar/banjo/mandolin) ranging widely in style.

In addition to film sound, Ernst Karel (Sound Design/Mix) makes experimental nonfiction sound works and electroacoustic music. His recent projects are edited/composed using unprocessed location recordings; in performance he sometimes combines location recordings with analog electronics to create pieces which move between the abstract and the documentary. Other films on which he has done postproduction include The Iron Ministry, Manakamana, Leviathan, and Sweetgrass.
